Lament of the Mind

Need help!

I’m looking for examples of strong female main characters in video games (or, perhaps, just characters in general). These are surprisingly hard to find - you find a lot of the whiny, girly-girl, quiet, and innocent “rescue me!” types, but you don’t find a lot that stick up for themselves and do shit well.

I’ve dug up a few examples of what I’m looking for: Terra from Final Fantasy VI; Lys from Fire Emblem GBA, Ritz from Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced (Iffy game, but had some pretty decent characters and a fair story), and Imoen from Baldur’s Gate 2 (Not so much pre-kidnapping, but post-kidnapping she had a badass streak that could not be stopped). Outside the gaming world, someone like Videl from Dragon Ball Z would be a fair example (Edit: Leela from Futurama is also very good for this). There aren’t too many of these, but they doexist, and I want to know if I’ve missed any really, really good ones.
