Three souls bound by one struggle.
I’ve never seen a photo that sums up the struggle for the Triforce better than this one does. Three souls, intertwined forever to represent and play out the struggle between light and darkness for eternity so that the rest of the world can continue on with their lives.
Zelda represents wisdom, she’s intelligent, kind and a great leader. She knows that sometimes to save the people of your kingdom you must make sacrifices so that the majority of people can survive. But, she’ll never be able to truly wield the Master Sword while shes royalty because you can never be truly “pure of heart” when ruling over a kingdom. There will always be some compromises to make to bring most of the kingdom into a better way of living, but some citizens will always be left behind by these changes.
Ganondorf. Where do I start with Ganondorf. Officially, Ganondorf is just a thief who wanted more power, went to the Sacred Realm and then stole the Triforce, bringing on OOTs events. But he’s always got the Triforce of Power. For like, ever. And I think that says a lot about his deeper motivations. He’s from the Desert, the only male in the Gerudo peoples for a century, and life out there is terrible. It’s horrendous living conditions, and I wouldn’t find it hard to believe that he uses Power as a means of change. I’d even believe that when he first set out to get the Triforce of Power, it was with good intentions on using its power to create a better living environment for his people. But, the Power corrupted him beyond repair, as Power is easily swayed by malicious influence. I also like the thought that at one time, he was able to wield the Master Sword, before being corrupted, and exploring the land of Hyrule and the Sacred Realm, on his mission to make life better for the Gerudo people.
And then we have Link. I love Link. I love what Link represents. He has courage, but not just that, he has does it without even a second thought. He knows its the right thing to do, and even though he’s probably gonna die in the process, somebody has to try and save the world. He’s the epitome of selflessness. But the real reason he is the Chosen Hero of the Goddess, and the reason he is the one who without fail always gets to wield the Master Sword on his quest is? Well, Zelda fights to regain control of her Kingdom so that there will be Peace. Ganondorf fights with brute strength and Power so that he can conquer the land and shape it in his design. Link, though? He fights so that everyone can be free.
